Lake Peipsi SAR was established in 2018 as a non-profit association of volunteer rescuers due to the need of Lake Peipsi for additional rescue resources, the interest of Peipsiääre municipality and the possibility to provide rescuers with a state guarantee when performing rescue work.
The founders and members of the association are senior sea rescuers who are actively engaged in the recreation of water areas and therefore are able to anticipate and react to the risks and events related to this recreation. The association has 19 qualified rescuers.
Lake Peipsi SAR brings together skilled volunteer rescuers from various walks of life who, on a voluntary basis, are motivated to ensure safe traffic on the transboundary water body and other navigable inland waters.
